Is Everything You Do In Life Art?

Lucinda Batchelor

I read a quote this morning by Helena Bonham Carter, a favourite actress, which made me ponder. I do love a good ponder!

"I think everything you do in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art"

I did think perhaps not how I drink my tea as I was slurping noisily away, but then I thought about the fine china cup I prefer over a hefty builders mug, I like the way it sits lightly in my hands and the feel of the fine smooth china on my lips. Loose tea is a step too far for me time-wise so it has to be organic unbleached tea bags, preferably the tea picked by naked monks in the light of the full moon....well ok not that, but it shows how the everyday things we take for granted really are so very considered. And then I thought of the more important things like how we love someone, and our smile and personality, these are artforms unquestionably, and should be given the same consideration and admiration as we do beautiful art.

I agree, 'life' really is art and for an artist it's what you unconsciously or consciously already know, but every person has this inside of them whether they know it or not.

Welcome to my blog post, and welcome to my website where my everyday includes looking through the camera viewfinder to share my view of something important to me, the natural world.
